Caroline and Erin are freelance photographers, writers and web designers. They are currently on a cross-country road trip looking for LGBTQ+ friendly places and spaces. When they’re not traveling you can find them on the trails in Asheville, North Carolina. Age you took your first photo? What camera did you use? Erin: I was 8 years old and snapped a photo with a plastic point and shoot Vivitar that was given to me by my grandmother. Caroline: Somewhere around 7 or 8 years old I took a photo with a Polaroid camera and watched it come to life.
When did you realize that you wanted to be a professional photographer? Erin: In 2012! Caroline: In 2017!
Who inspires you: Erin: My friends. I didn’t go to art school and have learned almost everything I know from friends and trial and error. Caroline: Erin!
What camera do you use to capture most of your work? We both shoot with a Fuji X-T2
If I could photograph anyone in the world, alive or deceased, it would be… Erin: My grandparents. Caroline: My grandmother Adoline’s hands.
What do you do when not taking photos? Erin: Play outside and have a Fun Time Caroline: Sip on an IPA and dream about building another tiny house.
Favorite place on earth? Erin: Anywhere with Caroline! Caroline: Running with Erin on a new trail.
One piece of advice for someone at the beginning stages of their photography career? Erin: Experiment with all the buttons on your camera and try to figure out what they do to your images. Caroline: Try not to get discouraged when your photos don’t turn out how you see them in your mind.
How do you “Live The Moment”? Erin: By staying as present as possible in every single moment Caroline: By trying to be positive and hopeful rather than discouraged by the unknown.
